Live in partnership
with type 1 diabetes

Sabella Larkin

T1D Yoga Coach

I've been living with T1D for more than 20 years!

My T1D Journey

I was diagnosed with T1D, in 2002, when I was 11 years old at Children's Hospital in San Diego, CA

The first 15 years after my diagnosis were filled with many ups and downs

Despite the rollercoaster of living with T1D, I was determined to learn everything I could diabetes-related

In college, I studied pre-nursing, became a Certified Nurse Assistant, and volunteered in the UCSD Emergency Department

I intended to pursue a career in Nursing for Pediatric Endocrinology, but instead I graduated with my BA in Organizational Leadership

I fell in love with international travel, exploring India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand ... all without a CGM or insulin pump

After graduating college, I integrated into the T1D Tech community where I worked for Dexcom during the G6 launch

I gained a lot of insight about medical device technology for diabetes and health insurance coverage while working at Dexcom

I started using a CGM + insulin pump for my personal diabetes management and participated in many clinical trials over the next few years

I also began to study and integrate yoga, lifestyle medicine, and health + wellness coaching into my healthcare routine

After Dexcom, I engaged in advocacy efforts for better affordability + accessibility of diabetes supplies

I volunteered with T1 International to assist in creating the #CAInsulin4all Chapter

In 2019 and throughout pandemic years, I nannied for T1D families and helped them to integrate diabetes into their every day lives

I also made global connections with other people living with T1D in the Diabetes Online Community

Together, we created virtual yoga retreats and classes for people all around the world living with diabetes

In 2021, I became a Board Certified Health + Wellness Coach through the NBHWC

I partnered with Type One Together to create the world's first virtual coaching program supporting Grandparents in caring for their grandchildren living with T1D

I continued deeper into yoga studies earning my YACEP + RYT-500 designations, allowing me to create courses for the yoga teaching community

I now teach yoga nationally at Events, Conferences, and Camps for Diabetes Organizations

And I am combining my passions for yoga, travel, advocacy, and integrative health + wellness to help others live life with T1D to it's fullest
